Sometimes, patients need modifications to certain drugs. Say a child or elderly patient needs a drug in a liquid format instead of a pill. Compounding can fix that. Have an allergy to a specific ingredient in . your medication? Compounding can fix that as well.
Is Compounding Safe?
A common fear is that compounded drugs are not safe. Compounded drugs are only allowed to be created by registered pharamacists, and NextDoor pharmacy ensures that any drug we compound is safe for patients. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved because the FDA does not conduct an investigation on each compounded drug. This does not mean they are unsafe or illegal.
